Being diagnosed with a life threatening illness can be overwhelming for both the patient and their family. Compassionate Care wants to be involved and walk with you on this difficult journey. Our services compliment those of other health services by providing support to the ill person wherever they are residing whether that be in their own home, a nursing home, a retirement home or hospital.
Trained Hospice Volunteers function as extended family members. They can provide companionship for the ill person by talking, listening, or just sitting quietly with them. They can perform light housekeeping, prepare meals and assist with comfort measures. Our volunteers are comfortable talking about death and assisting in making end-of-life arrangements.
Our volunteers also provide respite for caregivers to rest, go to appointments, shop, get chores done or go out for a break with friends.
Our volunteers can assist the client and/or caregiver by running errands outside the home - such as picking up medication or groceries. They may accompany a patient to a medical appointment or other function.
Our volunteers assist with our events and fundraising activities in a variety of different roles.
